How to create, refine, and manage environments in Cascade, including using prompts, reference images, and the Playground to test multiple models, resolutions, and styles in parallel.

Step 1: Access the Environment Library

This is the Environment Library, where all the environments you create will be stored.

Step 2: Add a New Environment

To add a new environment, click on Add New.

You will see three options:

  • Import an asset from your local device
  • Create an environment from scratch
  • Write a prompt

*In this tutorial, an environment asset was imported.

Then type a name for the asset and click Create Environment. Your new environment will now appear in your environment library.

Step 3: Refine the Environment with Prompts

You can refine your environment by writing prompts in the Environment Generator tab.

Here, you can select your preferred model, resolution, and the style.

Write a description of the environment you want to create in the prompt box. Then click Enrich to expand your brief prompt into a detailed, model-ready version.

If you’re satisfied with the enriched prompt, you can use it as is or discard it if you prefer.

When you’re happy with your prompt, click Generate.

Step 4: Review and Manage Generated Versions

Once the environment is generated, you can zoom in on the canvas to closely examine your refinements.

If you’re satisfied with the latest version, you can:

  • Mark it as approved
  • Save it as your second choice
  • Leave it in review
  • Or discard it if you prefer

Step 5: Refine Using a Reference Image

You can also refine an environment by adding a reference image. In the Environment Generator go to the prompt box and select the Upload Icon. In the pop up box, upload your chosen image by dragging and dropping it into the upload area. Then select OK to upload the image.

You will see the image referenced in the prompt box, and you can write a prompt to incorporate the image into your environment. When you’re happy with your prompt, click Generate.

A new environment version will be created, and you can zoom in on the canvas to examine your new refinement.

Step 6: Use the Playground for Multi-Model Testing

Cascade offers a feature called the Playground, where you can run multiple generations using a single prompt. This allows you to test different models, resolutions, and styles all at once. To get started with the Playground, select Add Your First Model.

Here, you can choose:

  • Your model
  • The resolution
  • And the style you’d like to test in this card

To add another card, press Add Model. In this additional card, select a different model, style, or resolution to compare the outputs.

Then enter a prompt to create an independent generation for each active card. You can use the Enrich option to expand your brief prompt. Once you’re satisfied, click Generate or Execute to run all active cards simultaneously.

After the generations are complete, hover over the image of your choice to open it in the canvas.

From here, select Approved for your preferred card generation.
